Dear Resident,
Welcome to the Deer Park Board of Education’s new website. The Board has launched this site to enhance communication with our community. Let’s face it, the way in which we communicate as a society, both in business and even socially, has changed immensely in the last 10-15 years. We hope that you will take full advantage of this site and its new features. Our primary intention as a Board is to keep you informed of what we are doing to enhance curriculum and instruction for our children, as well as what we are doing to enhance the overall quality of life for all Deer Park residents.
Committee reports, information about the budget process, capital projects, schedules of meetings, and government links are all available to keep you up to speed on the work being done in-district that affects our children as well as what our elected officials outside of the school community are doing in the name of our best interests.
This site is designed so that residents can email Board members on any District issue. Visitors may sign up for the “A CALL TO ACTION” program. When the Board wishes to communicate an important issue to you, we will send out “A Call to Action” email. In that email, we will tell you about the issue, its ramifications to us, and how you can help.
The louder our collective voice becomes, the more we will be in the collective consciousness of our local, state and federal representatives. This can have a positive impact on numerous issues concerning education from taxes to programs to mandates. All District residents are encouraged to sign up to receive this communication. There is no obligation and you will not be subject to junk mail or spam as a result of your participation.
Public action meetings are held every month (usually the third or fourth Tuesday) and Board of Education workshops are held on nearly every other Tuesday of the month. While these meetings are open to the public, they are sparsely attended. There are many reasons for this but the major one is lack of time for everyone. This is why the website has been created; to allow you – our constituents – the opportunity to reach out to us – the Board – as well as government officials, and participate in the democratic process at your own convenience.
We welcome your input and value your voice. Thank you for your consideration.
